Handwoven Zapotec rugs are exquisite textiles crafted by the Zapotec people of Oaxaca, Mexico. These rugs are known for their vibrant colors, intricate geometric patterns, and use of natural dyes derived from plants, insects, and minerals. The weaving techniques have been passed down through generations, preserving traditional designs while also incorporating contemporary motifs. Each rug is made on a hand-operated loom, reflecting the artisan’s skill and cultural heritage. The high-quality wool and meticulous craftsmanship make Zapotec rugs not only beautiful but also durable, ideal for adding a touch of cultural elegance to any space.
Flat weave rugs make great layer elements when used with other flat weaves or with different textured rugs. Since they’re more pliable and lighter, flat weaves aren’t only for the floor. They are wonderful as a throw or furniture accent or on a wall like a tapestry.
